Vernon military mom participates as honor flight guardian to veteran

Linda Smigen, of Vernon, traveled as a guardian on the Hudson Valley Veterans Honor Flight, where she accompanied Gerard Russo, of Somers, N.Y. to the World War II monument in Washington, D.C. Linda Smigen, longtime Vernon resident and a member of the Military Moms of Vernon, participated in an honor flight for the Hudson Valley Veterans as a volunteer guardian to Gerard Russo, of Somers, N.Y. Russo, 92, is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served as a PFC in Guadalcanal and the Philippines during World War II.
