Suspicious Fire at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility

On Dec. 29, the Westchester County Fire Cause and Origin Unit contacted the New York State Police in Somers to assist with a suspicious fire investigation at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. Police said that at about 5:15 p.m., an employee from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility discovered smoke emanating from the maintenance garage, located on the exterior of the secure portion of the prison property.

Westchester publisher and strip club owner Selim "Sam" Zherka of Somers took a plea deal for 37 months in prison, according to Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
