Somers Lions Club Picks Winner Of 'Illuminate Somers' Contest

Twenty-three houses participated in the first-ever "Illuminate Somers" contest run by The Somers Lions Club , but only three could be winners. The results, posted late in the day on Friday, were 16 Flower Drive for first prize , 30 Sunderland Lane for second , and 182 Tomahawk St. for third.

Cross River Man, 20, Had Sexual Phone Chats With Minors, Police Say

Alexander A. Accinelli, a 20-year-old Cross River resident, was arrested by state police and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday as a result of incidents involving inappropriate phone contact with two local youths, according to a release by New York State Police in Somers. Police say during the phone contact Accinelli engaged in conversation that was sexual in nature and also requested for one of the youths to secure illegal drugs for him, the release said.

Somers Library, Rotary Buy New Display Screens

Somers Library Foundation President Rose Corbett and Foundation Treasurer Susan Petroccione approached the Northeastern Westchester Rotary about buying two new program announcement screens to showcase the many children's, teen and adult programs offered at the library. Rotarian Doug Abdelnour, owner of Bedford Photo-Graphic in Somers, purchased the two large screens, programmed them to format JPEG files, trained staff to update both screens and networked the screens so that updating could be easily done.
