Somers Teen Charged With Arson, Burglary Of North Salem Home

A Somers teenager is facing felony charges after he broke into a North Salem home and allegedly attempted to set the house on fire using gasoline. State Police announced Friday that Jeremiah Healy, 17, has been arrested and charged with felony counts of arson, burglary and criminal mischief after he was caught breaking in through a kitchen window and causing fire damage in the home.

A Stony Point man who spent years in prison for beating to death an elderly Somers woman in 1980, has been released from prison on parole for the second time, according to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Parking Info Provided For Somers Champions' Parade

Somers High School is expecting a big turnout for Saturday's current and past state championship celebrations, and attendees can park either at Somers High School or neighboring Primrose Elementary. Somers School District Finds High Lead Levels In Classroom Sinks, Fountains

Two water fountains at the high school and one at the middle school have tested positive for lead above levels allowed by the state, Somers school officials said. The school district posted the full results of the first and second rounds of testing on its website and said that the water outlets in question have been disabled and "remediation efforts," such as the installation of filters or the replacement of the units themselves, have been undertaken.
