Military Vehicle Show Comes To Westchester

Military buffs will want to check out the Historic and Military Vehicles Show in Somers on Saturday and Sunday where everything from trucks to ambulances will be featured. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 1 and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, July 2, at Lasdon Park, Arboretum, and Veterans Memorial, in Somers, will also include memorabilia, entertainment, reenactors, refreshments, and a visit by a combat dog.

Watch Your Step, Somers: Pedestrian, Motorist Safety Blitz Starts

In an effort to increase safety for all parties on local roadways, the New York State Department of Transportation has launched a "pedestrian safety enforcement blitz." The DOT announced that beginning for two weeks, starting on Friday, local law enforcement agencies will be targeting their busiest pedestrian walkways to educate the public about safety rules and laws.

Somers Girls Lacrosse Team Accuses Yorktown Boys Team Of Harassment

The Somers Central School District is investigating following an alleged incident between certain members of the Somers varsity girls lacrosse team and the Yorktown varsity boys lacrosse team on May 25 at Yorktown High School. Following a practice prior to the Section 1 Class B girls lacrosse championship games between Yorktown and Somers at Charlie Murphy Field at YHS, the Somers girls team was sent to use the Yorktown boys locker room when members of the Yorktown boys lacrosse team entered the locker room and engaged in harassing and intimidating behavior directed towards the girls, according to Somers Superintendent Raymond Blanch.

Loose Dog Spotted Near Yorktown

A loose dog was recently spotted in Somers and Good Samaritans in Westchester are hopeful of reuniting it with its family or finding it a safe home. Over the weekend, a loose dog was reported on Lake Road in Somers, running on the side of the roadway near the lake.
