Learn To Safeguard Your Digital Life At Somers Library

A privacy rights activist is to speak at Somers Library about the many issues surrounding online privacy and is to offer solutions to "help subvert digital spying." Alison Macrina, who also is a librarian, is to speak at the library at Route 139 & Reis Park from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. Macrina is set to discuss a number of issues, including the increasing amounts of personal information shared with software providers, the increasing influence of mega companies like Google and Facebook, the "overbroad" government surveillance revealed by Edward Snowden, and the information presented online that is discoverable by hackers.
