Kurtz was born on June 23, 1942 in Queens to Charles and Blanche Kurtz, retiring from the NYPD after 20 years of service. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Lorraine, and is survived by his wife Anne Nolan, his children, Ken Jr. and his wife Kate, and Thomas and his wife Adele of Moreau, grandchildren Kenny, Katrina, Karlene, Nolan, Sydney and Addison, siblings Charles, George, Denise, several nieces and nephews.
